The Canoe Valley Recreation Centre is subject to frequent changes under COVID-19 BC Public Health Orders and WorkSafeBC regulations. Please call the Arena for the latest facility hours.

Please note:

  • FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED in all areas of the facility by those aged 5 and older as per the Province of BC's Public Health Orders
  • adult team sports are now being offered again
  • child and youth programs continue

Free skate sessions have an occupancy limit of 20 skaters every two hours. Spectators are allowed at sport activities up to 50% of the arena capacity, provided those 12 and older are fully vaccinated and face masks are worn by those 5 and older.

Proof of Vaccination

As per Provincial Public Health Orders, effective October 24, only fully vaccinated people (12 and older) can access the Recreation Centre for non-organized recreational sports. Public skate/open skate options do not require reservations. The front doors are no longer locked, and staff are in the foyer to do the vaccination verifications, etc. 

Showing Proof of Vaccination:

  • BC Vaccine Card plus government photo ID
  • out of province patrons must provide immunization cards from their home province plus government photo ID
  • proof of vaccination is not required for child and youth under the age of 21 participating in an organized recreational sport

Staff are required to ensure the Province of BC Public Health Orders and Northern Health Restrictions are being followed by those accessing the facility. Bullying and harassment of staff will not be tolerated.

Fitness Facility

  • The Exercise Room is CLOSED and any exercise equipment located throughout the Canoe Valley Recreation Centre is off limits until further notice as per the Province of BC's Public Health Orders.

General Facility Information

The Canoe Valley Recreation Centre is open year round. In the winter ice recreational services include hockey, figure skating and public skating. In the off-season the arena is available for a multitude of activities such as badminton, tennis, pickle ball, floor hockey and indoor soccer. The walking track is open and available for use. 

To rent the Recreation Centre for an event, contact Community Services at or call 1-800-667-1959 to discuss rental needs and complete a rental agreement.

  • All events and organized recreational activities booked at the Recreation Centre require event insurance to a minimum value of $3,000,000 Commercial General Liability. At the Regional District's discretion more CGL can be required depending on the type of event and activities taking place.
