The hours for the Recreation Centre Arena and the Exercise Room are subject to change as we operate under COVID-19 orders/regulations/recommendations from the Province. Please phone the Recreation Centre for the latest update.

Ice is back on at the Arena and operating hours will be subject to change as schedules are finalized.

Use of the Arena and Exercise Room will require an appointment. To book an appointment please call 250-566-4740. The following will apply.

ARENA - Public Skate and Stick Time:

  • Appointments will take priority over "Walk-Ins"
  • Maximum of 6 people permitted at one time, for both public skating and stick time
  • Skate rentals and sharpening services are unavailable at this time
  • "Regular" COVID procedures and screening apply for all who are entering the Arena


  • Walk-ins for the fitness facility may be permitted provided maximum occupancy (under our COVID-19 Safety Plan) has not been met
  • Reduced Facility Capacity: Maximum of 3 people in the exercise room
  • You must bring your own water, towels, etc.
  • Showers will not be available


  • Increased Cleaning and Sanitizing
  • Increased Physical Distancing
  • Reduced Capacity
  • Reduced Operating Hours


General Facility Information

The Canoe Valley Recreation Centre is located at 100 Elm St., Valemount, in the beautiful Canoe Valley.

The Recreation Centre is open year round.

From September through April ice recreational services are provided including hockey, figure skating and public skating.

There is a year round walking track (9 laps = 1 mile) and a fitness facility.  In the off-season the arena is available for a multitude of activities such as badminton, tennis, pickle ball, floor hockey and indoor soccer.

If you are interested in renting the Recreation Centre for an event please contact the facility for more information, 250-566-4740.  Staff will be happy to discuss your rental needs and to assist you to complete a rental agreement.

  • Please be advised that all events and organized recreational activities booked at the Recreation Centre require Event Insurance to a minimum value of $3,000,000 Commercial General Liability.  At the discretion of the Regional District, the CGL value required may be more depending on the type of event and activities taking place.  Event organizers are encouraged to shop around for event insurance.  Please check with your regular insurance agent, insurance agents in your area, and/or on-line at .    (please note, this is simply an information forwarding service and does not indicate the Regional District's endorsement of a particular company, product, or website)
  • If your guests will be dining, consult Northern Interior Health for guidelines and regulations.
  • If alcoholic beverages will be served, consult the BC Liquor Board for guidelines and regulations.
