Building Inspection / Overview

*****NOTICE*****

DUE TO THE LARGE VOLUME OF INSPECTION REQUESTS, WE WILL BE REQUIRING A MINIMUM OF 48 HOUR NOTICE (2 BUSINESS DAYS) TO BE ABLE TO SCHEDULE THE INSPECTION WITH OUR BUILDING INSPECTORS. THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.

The goal of the Building Inspection Department is to ensure the health, safety and protection of persons and property by confirming that buildings and their systems generally conform to relevant bylaws, the BC Building Code and other applicable standards.

The BC Local Government Act authorizes Regional Districts to regulate the construction, alteration, repair or demolition of buildings and structures for the health, safety and protection of persons and property in accordance with the BC Building Code and through the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George Building Bylaw 1561.

Building Inspection provides interim spot checks on the construction stages in accordance with the BC Building Code and building plans that have been submitted for a permit.  A permit is required for construction, alteration, repair or demolition of a building or structure, building relocations, masonry fireplaces and solid fuel burning appliances and chimneys, as well as, plumbing systems.

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George provides a building inspection service within its electoral areas and by contract to the Village of McBride.
