Village of Valemount
The Village of Valemount occupies 4 square kilometres and has 1020 residents. The Village is represented on the Regional District Board by Mayor Owen Torgerson.
Region-wide services provided include solid waste management, 9-1-1 emergency response, fire services coordination, regional parks, land use planning, building inspection and heritage conservation.
Other services include Library service, Valemount and District Fire Protection and Rescue Service, TV Rebroadcasting and the Canoe Recreation Centre.
The Canoe Valley Recreation Centre offers hockey, speed skating, figure skating and public skating from September through April. The facility can also be booked for special events. George Hicks Regional Park is located in Valemount along Swift Creek. Cedarside Regional Park is 3 kilometres south of Valemount on Little Cranberry Lake.
